Secondary School Supplies – Middle and Diploma Years

Each student should bring at least one of each of the following every day to class.

Supplies should be labelled clearly with the student’s name to avoid misplacement.

  • Art supplies (mandatory for all art students): a black permanent marker (two sides “Sharpie”); a range (minimum of four) drawing/sketch pencils, in various grades: (H, HB, 4B, 6 or 7B).  MYP 1 and new students must also provide a three-ring binder, 1.5 inch thick, letter size, to create their MYP art portfolios.
  • Calculator: MYP 1, 2 & 3 students: Students should have a good scientific calculator, for example a Sharp Advanced D.A/L. These are available at Pricesmart and other office supply/book stores. Please be aware of the requirement from MYP 4 and beyond for a Ti-84 graphing calculator (please see information in section below).
  • Calculator: MYP 4, 5 & DP students should have a Graphic Display Calculator (GDC), a Texas Instrument TI-84 plus Silver Edition or a Texas Instruments TI 84 Plus C Silver Edition; this is a requirement from the IB and it is important that students have this calculator from an early age in order to get familiar with its functions. Unfortunately, the calculator cannot be found in Barbados, therefore we advise you to buy it overseas during the summer holiday or order it from amazon. Here are two links with the models of GDC from Amazon or here.

The Codrington School is committed to cutting-edge methodology and developing the skills and knowledge required to meet the needs of our twenty-first century students once they reach the professional market. We have a state-of-the-art website and functional e-mail and document management systems hosted on site; we use technology in the classroom consistently (through the use of software and online tools, as well as with projectors, video and photo cameras) and encourage the use of media materials in our documentation and student work.

As such all MYP and DP students will be expected to have a personal laptop.
