Principal and CEO

Originally from Wales, Darryl is married to Milagros and is the father of two children, both of whom attend the school. Darryl began his career as a secondary school teacher in Kenya, but has spent the last nineteen years working in and leading international schools in Kenya, Venezuela and the USA before taking up his current post as Principal in August 2012.

An IB North America workshop leader (Mathematics), academy member and accreditation officer (IB, CIS and AdvancED), Darryl balances his work in education with a passion for rugby; continually trying, and occasionally succeeding, in dispelling the myth that he is too old to play. Darryl speaks English and Spanish.

Dr. Angela Broeckel, otherwise known as “Angie,” is from the Pacific Northwest in the United States. Angie received her Masters in Teaching and Learning from the University of Oregon and her EdD in Education from the University of Southern California (USC). Angie has worked in IB schools for nearly 30 years in Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Switzerland, Norway, Greece, Panama and Mexico in a variety of roles as a teacher and a leader of those schools. As an intercultural communication enthusiast and someone interested in the integration of curriculum to enhance learning in service and leadership, Angie has evolved schools, faculty and students to realize their potential and focus on experiential education as a highlight to conquering their fears and embracing life. Being a big adventurer at heart, Angie has visited all seven continents, including kayaking in Antarctic waters, exploring the Northern Lights, and bungee jumping from Victoria Falls on the Zambian border. Besides taking the ‘road less traveled,’ Angie enjoys singing (she was once a member of Up with People), writing, reading, and seeking solutions to global problems.

ROB FULLER 🇦🇺

Rob was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, where he graduated from Deakin University with a B.Ed., B.App.Sc. (Hons.), and M.App.Sc. in Leadership. Initially he taught at primary and secondary schools in Melbourne, and then lectured at Tertiary level to B.Ed. students. For the past 14 years Rob has been employed at I.B. World Schools in the British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas, where he has held senior management roles and taught PYP at various year levels. Outside of school, Rob’s interests include travel, photography, Caribbean history and culture, and sport. He particularly enjoys watching the Australian rugby team continue their 40-year dominance over the Welsh.

Susanne was born and raised in Germany. After receiving an honours degree in Primary Education from the University of Greenwich, she worked and lived in various countries, including the UK, US and Norway.

As a passionate IB PYP curriculum coordinator, she has frequented many international school conferences where she bubbled with enthusiasm for anything and everything related to the PYP. Susanne loves to encourage her school community ‘to take action’, especially in the field of environmental conservation and education.When she isn’t busy talking to coordinators and educators across the globe, she can be found in, on or under the water, either swimming, paddle boarding , kayaking or scuba diving. Her favourite Sunday afternoon activity is to organise beach clean ups – watch out for an invitation!

Nicola holds a PhD in English in which she specialized in the modern American and Afro-American novel and contemporary theatre. She has taught at The Codrington School for the past 7 years and her two sons are students in the PYP and MYP.

Kirsty was born in England. She has been teaching for 10 years, has worked in schools in the UK and comes to Codrington from The International School of Milan, Italy.

She has a passion for learning and, although her main love is English, she also enjoys exploring Drama and Film and has taken part in a number of amateur dramatic productions. In her spare time, Kirsty enjoys reading, traveling and trying new things.

Chrystal is an established songwriter and arranger and has written winning compositions throughout the Caribbean. Her passion for the arts lead her to pursuing a degree in Music from the Barbados Community College, a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts with a double major in Film and Theatre with Honors.

She then graduated from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom with a Masters Degree in Media and Cultural Studies. Chrystal holds a Diploma in Education with Distinction from the Erdiston Teaching College in Barbados.

Ron was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio in the United States. He graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Mathematics Education. Ron taught for 27 yrs in the US before beginning his international teaching adventure. He is coming to us from the Pechersk School International in Ukraine.

In addition to teaching, Ron coached varsity boys basketball and was the assistant coach for Math Counts. Ron understands the struggles that some students go through with maths because he experienced them also and that is why he feels he is a perfect fit to teach the subject. Ron is excited about “living” the island life with his wife, Betsy, and their two dogs, Bucky and Wanda. Ron is a comic book collector and big Marvel fan, he also enjoys movies, puzzles, and all things nerdy.

I have a passion for the language learning and firmly believe that every person can speak another language. It is merely a case of guiding that student out of their comfort zone and creating an environment and desire for self-expression, sharing and having fun. Ada is Australian, of Chinese origin. After receiving a bachelor degree in Primary Education (Early Years Education) from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, she has lived and worked in various countries, including the USA, the UK, Indonesia, Russia and Egypt. Living and teaching overseas impacted her teaching practices positively in many ways and she is passionate about learning through inquiry and fostering a classroom of risk-takers and open-minded children.
Outside the classroom, Ada likes to travel, read and engage in any aerial related activities such as aerial yoga, aerial silks and aerial hoop. She particularly enjoys going to places where the sun is shining and the waves are crashing on the beach. She loves floating on top of the sea on a paddle board or a kayak, and more recently started taking up windsurfing lessons which she is excited about as Barbados is the perfect spot for it.

Ana is a passionate Business Management and History teacher. She is also an MUN (Model United Nations) trainer. She holds a degree in Bachelor of Science in Education (Social Sciences) and Master of Art in Teaching from the Philippines. Currently, she is working on earning a Business specialisation with University of Pennsylvania.
She has more than thirty years of teaching in the Philippines where she is originally from and various international schools in Indonesia, Bahamas, Nigeria, Malaysia, and Singapore which she and family now lives.

She is most proud of her 3 children who are now young adults, her accomplishments as an IB educator, an Extended Essay & IA Adviser, and the MUN delegates she has coached, who have received awards and recognition in their conferences.

Ana believes in an education that is balanced and diverse, encouraging students to develop physically, emotionally, morally, culturally and intellectually. She also holds the view that society will benefit from enabling its citizens to develop their talents and interests, which in turn serve the common good.

She also enjoys working and communicating with young people as they are enthusiastic and open minded.

Ana enjoys walking long distances, listening to music, and meeting people and making new friends. She also likes playing bowling, reading classic novels, organising overseas trips for students to experience real life appreciation of different culture. Peggy has been teaching for the past eighteen years, thirteen of which have been within the International Baccalaureate PYP Programme.  Before coming to Barbados in 2006, Peggy taught at the Luiz Munoz-Marin Elementary School in Brooklyn, New York, where she taught for five years.

Her philosophy of education is that all children are unique and as such should be taught in an environment where they can grow and build upon their prior knowledge in order to reach their full potential.  Peggy is a mother of two beautiful girls and enjoys spending every spare moment she can with them. She also enjoys making cold process soap, candles, photography and listening to music.

As a physical and health education teacher, Tanner believes in creating meaningful experiences through student choice, promoting lifelong interest in physical activity and health initiatives. Outside of work, he enjoys pursuing a range of outdoor activities including golf, hiking, surfing and reading a book on a patio.

Stephanie Brathwaite is an MYP science and the DP Biology teacher and has been an educator for over twenty five years, with most of that time spent in the private sector. She is from Barbados and is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Masters in Education in Testing and Measurement.

She was first introduced to the “IB way of life” while living in Venezuela where her children attended an IB school there. As a parent and an educator she became fully involved and has been passionate about it ever since.

When not in the classroom, she enjoys genealogical research, travelling and singing and has been involved in many choirs in Barbados, including The Cavite Chorale of the University of The West Indies, The Cecilian Singers and the Aeolian Singers. She is currently a member of the St. Cecilia Chorale and the Belle Voci Cantanti Singers.

Caroline was born in the North East of France, right on the border of Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. She went to study languages and films in Nancy, France and after her degree she moved to London to be a language assistant in a secondary school.

She then undertook a Graduate Teacher Programme in French and German. Caroline has seen herself in multiple positions of leadership during her time in the UK such as Acting Head of MFL, Head of French and EAL coordinator. She believes greatly in the power of cultural diversity where languages are taught to empower and open minds.

Caroline loves going to the gym, she is a long distance runner and has been training Muay Thai boxing for nearly 2 years. Caroline has a vivid passion for Photography and Film making, which will be put in practice while exploring the island.

Building a connection with her school and local community has always been important to Barbara. Through athletics and community theatre, she has had many opportunities to build strong relationships with her students and neighbours. Barbara is very much looking forward to teaching in the PYP classroom and feels that it is the perfect fit for her.

Rich was born and raised in North West of England. Soon after graduating in early 90s Manchester, with an honours degree in Fine Arts, he began teaching Art & Design, but swiftly found a way into Design & Technology and has never looked back. Rich has been Head of Pastoral, Lead Teacher and Head of D&T in a range of teaching environments. With his background and love of the arts combined with a passion for all things technological, Rich seeks to generate enthusiasm and curiosity through STEAM focussed projects which engage creatively with real world problems and give opportunities for dynamic collaboration across the curriculum.

Recently Rich has been doing D&T teaching and consultancy outside of the UK, mainly in Portugal. He loves to travel and sees working in Barbados as a great opportunity to teach & learn about what both he and the island have to offer.

In his spare time Rich likes to get on his mountain bike and go explore. He may also be found playing tennis or golf or perhaps putting a little 8 ball in the side pocket.

Music is also of great interest to Rich and he has some ability with a guitar, but think twice before encouraging him!!

Claudia has been working as a teacher and in Leadership positions in Malaysia, Brazil, Costa Rica, the Netherlands and Uruguay. She likes to learn new teaching skills and pursue the dream of enhancing the teaching and learning of Science Education all around the world by applying new technologies and strategies. Claudia is a true believer in the benefits of teamwork, lifelong learning and open-mindedness. She enjoys traveling and wandering around with her husband and dogs in her free time. Beyza was born and raised in Turkey. She has been teaching for four years, has worked at an IB school in Istanbul. In addition to teaching mathematics, she has led the Mind Games Math Club and has assisted the Astronomy Club at her previous school.

In her spare time, Beyza loves doing yoga, swimming, scuba diving, and sailing. She is very passionate about learning yoga philosophy in-depth and becoming a yogini one day to teach it to others.

Carla was born and raised in The Bahamas on Grand Bahama Island. She commenced her PYP teaching career 16 years ago as one of the inaugural teachers at an International Baccalaureate school on Grand Bahama and has spent the majority of her teaching career in the Pre-K and Kindergarten year levels.

Carla has been a passionate advocate for the Primary Years Programme since she was first introduced to it because it capitalizes on children’s natural curiosity towards learning and because it focuses on the development of the whole child. Some of her proudest moments in teaching have been watching former students work their way through the various year levels to graduate with the I.B. Diploma. Carla’s hobbies outside school include soccer, tap dancing, listening to music and traveling. She was fortunate to combine two of those passions when she represented the Bahamian National Soccer Team in international tournaments in the Dominican Republic, Bermuda and the U.S.A.

Allie was born and raised in Maryland, USA. She studied at Towson University where she earned a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught preschool and kindergarten for five years in the United States.
After deciding to teach abroad, she relocated to Belgium. There she spent two years teaching Pre-K and one year teaching Grade One. She is excited to begin her new journey teaching in Barbados. In her free time, she enjoys working out, reading, being outdoors, traveling, and teaching Zumba classes to adults and children.

Liz was born in Middlesbrough, in the North East of England, and spent her childhood exploring the beaches and moors of North Yorkshire. After gaining a BA in Modern History from Merton College, Oxford, she joined the UK Civil Service, living and working in London as well as taking on representational roles overseas. Inspired by visits to schools during a posting to Washington DC, Liz decided to re-train as a teacher. She gained a PGCE from Oxford Brookes, and has never looked back.

Liz has three children, including a son in the PYP Programme at Codrington, so a lot of her spare time is family focussed. She is loving her time in Barbados, and making the most of the opportunity to be in, on and near the ocean. It’s just a bit more inviting than the North Sea!

After completing her A-levels, she obtained an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Kingston University and a Masters degree in Psychotherapy from Roehampton University. During this time she continued to study one of her passions – ballet. She also took the opportunity to travel. Some of her favourite places include India, Iceland and Barcelona.

Diana returned to Barbados to raise her daughter and has worked in Barbados privately as a Psychotherapist.

Ms. Sabrina, is the Office Manager and our School Nurse.
Sabrina is fluent in Spanish, embraces her culture and is passionate about education, student safety and health. She is supportive and nurturing to each of our students. Her philosophy is ‘one should never stop learning – there is so much yet to explore.

Sabrina specialized in Design and Illustration, holding a Graphic Design Degree from the Collage of West Palm Beach in Florida and assists with all of the school’s graphics.

In her free time, she enjoys horse riding, taking her dogs to the beach and having fun with family and friends.

Sarah is a proud Barbadian and dedicated mother of two very active little boys. She is a very organized and detailed oriented individual who, after graduating with a Bachelors in Business Management from the University of the West Indies has spent most of her career working in accounting within the Offshore sector in Barbados before joining the Codington Team. Sarah loves cooking and trying new dishes from all over the world.

She is an avid DIY-er and enjoys roping her husband into helping her with her projects, creating works of art, refinishing furniture and generally making something beautiful out of nothing at all.

She is also the  leader of our Duke of Edinburgh’ Program and on the Award Council and Expedition Panel. Dawn wears many ‘hats’ and is always willing to assist with a smile.
