Secondary School Supplies – Middle and Diploma Years

*Supplies should be labelled clearly with the student’s name to avoid misplacement.

  • Visual Art supplies (mandatory for all Visual Art students): a black permanent marker (two sides “Sharpie”); a range (minimum of four) drawing/sketch pencils, in various grades: (H, HB, 4B, 6 or 7B)
  • Calculator: MYP 5 & DP students should have a Graphic Display Calculator (GDC), a Texas Instrument TI-84 Plus CE. This is a requirement for IB DP Mathematics and it is important that students have familiarity with its functions. So we recommend that they have one from MYP5. Unfortunately, the calculator is hard to find in Barbados, and is considerably more expensive than overseas. Therefore we advise you to buy it overseas during the summer holidays. Here are two links for GDC from Amazon and The “Where to buy” page from Texas Instruments

  • Calculator: MYP 1-4 students: Students should have a good scientific calculator, for example a Sharp Advanced D.A/L or Casio Fx series. These are available at PricesSmart and other office supply/book stores. Please be aware of the requirement for MYP 5 and beyond for a Ti-84 graphing calculator, these can be used in lower MYP levels too (but has many functions that are not needed prior to MYP5/DP) and as such, and given the cost, is not a requirement for younger students

  • Pencil case containing highlighters, pens (ballpoint blue or black ink only, red or green for making corrections), pencils, colouring pencils and/or markers, eraser, pencil sharpener, scissors, glue stick and post-its/sticky notes
  • 10 A4 plastic envelope folders (with clip to fasten shut, in different colours) for loose subject papers
  • Swimming costume, cap, goggles and towel on Fridays [MYP 1 & 2 only].
  • Laptop sleeve/bag
  • Geometry set including compass, protractor, set square and ruler
  • House t-shirt to be changed into on PE days
  • Diary if personal preference is to have one

Laptop Requirements

The Codrington School is committed to cutting-edge methodology and developing the skills and knowledge required to meet the needs of our twenty-first century students once they reach the professional market. We have a state-of-the-art website and functional e-mail and document management systems hosted on site; we use technology in the classroom consistently (through the use of software and online tools, as well as with projectors, video and photo cameras) and encourage the use of media materials in our documentation and student work.

As such all MYP and DP students will be expected to have a personal laptop.

Although the school is not responsible for sourcing student laptops, should you need any assistance please contact Mr. Dario Holder, our ICT Systems Manager at Dario.holder@codrington.edu.bb.
