I believe in potential, that a rising tide lifts all boats, and that we can aim high while keeping our humanity — and our humour — intact.
I’ve been teaching so long that I’m fairly sure Methuselah was once in my class. He was far too chatty. Armed with a BA (Hons) in English with Education and a complete inability to say ‘NO’, I’ve been involved with countless trips — most recently a World Challenge expedition to Vietnam and Cambodia. Here the biggest accomplishment was surviving a tuk tuk ride. For the record: curling your toes, digging your nails into your palms, clamping your eyes shut, and screaming internally — with the occasional external squeak escaping — has no influence on the number of millimetres by which you avoid a bus, lorry, car, tuk tuk, cyclist, pedestrian, dog or cat.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me glass fusing, crafting, walking with my camera constantly clicking, baking, jewellery making or reading. I love musicals, books and films, and sing in a gloriously enthusiastic choir — we’re performing at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo this year. I also have a go at yoga, where I am happily, utterly hopeless.

Her philosophy of education is that all children are unique and as such should be taught in an environment where they can grow and build upon their prior knowledge in order to reach their full potential. Peggy is a mother of two beautiful girls and enjoys spending every spare moment she can with them. She also enjoys making cold process soap, candles, photography and listening to music.

I have a passion for the language learning and firmly believe that every person can speak another language. It is merely a case of guiding that student out of their comfort zone and creating an environment and desire for self-expression, sharing and having fun. I am fluent in English and Spanish and have a love of animals and gardening.

Carla has been a passionate advocate for the Primary Years Programme since she was first introduced to it because it capitalizes on children’s natural curiosity towards learning and because it focuses on the development of the whole child. Some of her proudest moments in teaching have been watching former students work their way through the various year levels to graduate with the I.B. Diploma. Carla’s hobbies outside school include soccer, tap dancing, listening to music and traveling. She was fortunate to combine two of those passions when she represented the Bahamian National Soccer Team in international tournaments in the Dominican Republic, Bermuda and the U.S.A.

Since she began teaching at The Codrington School, she has taught PYP3 for three years, and then began teaching PYP8. Her favorite things about living in Barbados are the beaches, the food, the music, and being a part of both local and international communities. In her free time, she enjoys working out, reading, being outdoors, traveling, and teaching Zumba classes to adults and children.
