Principal and CEO

Originally from Wales, Darryl is married to Milagros and is the father of two children, both of whom attend the school. Darryl began his career as a secondary school teacher in Kenya, but has spent the last nineteen years working in and leading international schools in Kenya, Venezuela and the USA before taking up his current post as Principal in August 2012.

An IB North America workshop leader (Mathematics), academy member and accreditation officer (IB, CIS and AdvancED), Darryl balances his work in education with a passion for rugby; continually trying, and occasionally succeeding, in dispelling the myth that he is too old to play. Darryl speaks English and Spanish.

Vicky has a background in the UK secondary and tertiary education sector and entered it as a teacher of Business & Economics. She went on to teach these subjects, in addition to Accounts and Law, across her specialist age group of 14-19. She developed and delivered on both academic and vocational student pathways. She has also been an A-Level examiner and a mentor for those seeking professional qualifications. Having accrued seven years class room practice, she progressed to be part of a whole school senior-management team in a multi-cultural comprehensive secondary school in London catering for 1700 students as an Assistant Head Teacher for over seven years.

Rob was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, where he graduated from Deakin University with a B.Ed., B.App.Sc. (Hons.), and M.App.Sc. in Leadership. Initially he taught at primary and secondary schools in Melbourne, and then lectured at Tertiary level to B.Ed. students. For the past 14 years Rob has been employed at I.B. World Schools in the British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas, where he has held senior management roles and taught PYP at various year levels. Outside of school, Rob’s interests include travel, photography, Caribbean history and culture, and sport. He particularly enjoys watching the Australian rugby team continue their 40-year dominance over the Welsh.

Jordana Carrington was born in Barbados and has completed school here until the age of eighteen. She continued her studies in Texas at Baylor University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Education, with honors.

She was awarded three teaching certificate from the State of Texas, which include teaching English language Learners. During her studies at Baylor University, she completed an educational internship in Australia, where she participated in evaluating educational programmes in Elementary Schools. Before returning to her home in Barbados, she taught 3 years in Texas. Jordana has travelled extensively and enjoys integrating her experiences into her classroom teaching. She is enthusiastically anticipating an exciting future at The Codrington School.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Nicola lived in Europe, Canada and the States before immigrating to Barbados in 1998.

Nicola holds a PhD in English in which she specialized in the modern American and Afro-American novel and contemporary theatre. She has taught at The Codrington School for the past 7 years and her two sons are students in the PYP and MYP.

She has a passion for learning and, although her main love is English, she also enjoys exploring Drama and Film and has taken part in a number of amateur dramatic productions. In her spare time, Kirsty enjoys reading, traveling and trying new things.

Chrystal is an established songwriter and arranger, for the Junior Calypso Monarch Competition and has written winning compositions throughout the years. Chrystal has also been a finalist the Pic-O-De-Crop Calypso Competition with self-penned songs which she also produced and mastered in local studios.

She worked as sound designer for the Caribbean Development Bank Documentary on Poverty Alleviation in the Caribbean. Chrystal is the PYP music teacher and enjoys working with children and believes that music transcends generations.

He has been Head of History at International Schools in Malaysia and El Salvador. He has a passion for playing golf and cricket and is a beloved follower of Manchester City football club.

Peggy has been teaching for the past eighteen years, thirteen of which have been within the International Baccalaureate PYP Programme.  Before coming to Barbados in 2006, Peggy taught at the Luiz Munoz-Marin Elementary School in Brooklyn, New York, where she taught for five years.

Her philosophy of education is that all children are unique and as such should be taught in an environment where they can grow and build upon their prior knowledge in order to reach their full potential.  Peggy is a mother of two beautiful girls and enjoys spending every spare moment she can with them. She also enjoys making cold process soap, candles, photography and listening to music.

Stephanie Brathwaite is an MYP science and the DP Biology teacher and has been an educator for over twenty five years, with most of that time spent in the private sector. She is from Barbados and is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Masters in Education in Testing and Measurement.

She was first introduced to the “IB way of life” while living in Venezuela where her children attended an IB school there. As a parent and an educator she became fully involved and has been passionate about it ever since.

When not in the classroom, she enjoys genealogical research, travelling and singing and has been involved in many choirs in Barbados, including The Cavite Chorale of the University of The West Indies, The Cecilian Singers and the Aeolian Singers. She is currently a member of the St. Cecilia Chorale and the Belle Voci Cantanti Singers.

Carla considers herself as a life-long learner, a creative artist and a teacher by heart. She strongly believes in the power and importance of the arts in all children’s educational journey.

She has previously worked as a photo-editor at a daily newspaper and as a freelanced photographer and visual artist. As a photographer she traveled to many countries in the world and in 1993 she moved to Barbados. Through her daughter, a child with learning difficulties, she became interested and involved in education. Since 2002 Carla has been the art teacher for all students at the school.

Marilee is a Canadian citizen, born and raised in Alberta. She attended the University of Calgary and taught in the Calgary Public School system for 36 years, 10 of them as Head of Science. She began her international career at UWC China and was most recently at Seoul Foreign School teaching DP Chemistry. Marilee is passionate about teaching but when classes wind up, she can be found on an airplane heading off to explore more of the world.

Carla was born and raised in The Bahamas on Grand Bahama Island. She commenced her PYP teaching career 16 years ago as one of the inaugural teachers at an International Baccalaureate school on Grand Bahama and has spent the majority of her teaching career in the Pre-K and Kindergarten year levels. Carla has been a passionate advocate for the Primary Years Programme since she was first introduced to it because it capitalizes on children’s natural curiosity towards learning and because it focuses on the development of the whole child. Some of her proudest moments in teaching have been watching former students work their way through the various year levels to graduate with the I.B. Diploma. Carla’s hobbies outside school include soccer, tap dancing, listening to music and traveling. She was fortunate to combine two of those passions when she represented the Bahamian National Soccer Team in international tournaments in the Dominican Republic, Bermuda and the U.S.A.

Leeanne was born in London UK and brought up in Manchester. She spent several years in the Women’s Royal air force as aircrew before having a successful career in retail management. She changed career and studied food sciences and trained to become a teacher. Since starting teaching over 16 years ago she has taught a range of subjects and has experience in the British National curriculum, the International primary curriculum and the PYP. Leeanne has worked in the UK, Turkey, Thailand, Qatar, Azerbaijan and now Barbados and has thoroughly enjoyed her overseas experiences. Leeanne enjoys long distance running and endurance competitions. During her time in Barbados Leeanne is hoping to join the local Hash House Harriers and explore the island.

For the past six years, I have been a PYP assistant teacher mainly with PYP3 and PYP 8, collaborating with teachers to teach small groups and provide one on one assistance.

I completed a two year course in Early Childhood Education and currently pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education.

Throughout the years I have been working at Codrington, I developed an open- minded approach, gained a wealth knowledge about the IB curriculum and the diversity in classrooms.

I am looking forward to developing my growth  and obtaining more knowledge within the Codrington School community.

Samantha is a British National, Canadian Citizen and Barbadian Permanent Resident. While Barbados has been her home for over 27 years she has had the opportunity to travel extensively across the globe.

She did this while delivering customized service thru her previous involvement in the villa tourism sector – catering to a high end international clientele. For the last 12 years Sam has offered her services throughout the Caribbean as a counselor – providing parenting support, encouraging positive communication skills, grief management and specializes in non directive therapeutic play services. Sam’s primary focus is to encourage children to reach their full potential thru developing their self confidence, world view and a strong family unit. Sam a mother of three wonderful children – enjoys horseback riding, paddle boarding, music, painting and adventure!

Donna Gregory-Clarke is a Barbadian National and has been an integral part our Codrington team since 2005. Donna received training in International School Finance with the IB’s Principal Training College and also benefited from training in Leadership with international trainers Michael Q. Pink and Kenneth Blanchard.

Donna joined the school with 14 years’ experience in the International Business and the Offshore Manufacturing Sectors. She enjoys the world of finance immensely and is currently pursuing an Accounting designation with ACCA.

A little known secret – Donna…..was once a dancer of modern art who won gold and silver awards at NIFCA!

Ms. Sabrina, is the Office Manager and our School Nurse.
Sabrina is fluent in Spanish, embraces her culture and is passionate about education, student safety and health. She is supportive and nurturing to each of our students. Her philosophy is ‘one should never stop learning – there is so much yet to explore and please be safe!’

Sabrina specialized in Design and Illustration, holding a Graphic Design Degree from the Collage of West Palm Beach in Florida and assists with all of the school’s graphics.
