ONE OF the successes of the Scotia Bank $20 Challenge says this foundation is a critical launching pad for young entrepreneurs. In 2016, Aidan Charles won the challenge and the award for Innovation And Culinary Arts with the successful launch of his business, Bajan Essential Cuisine. As you know MYP4’s Sophie and Alexandra’s businesses were short-listed as finalists for the eighth cycle of the BEF’s national $20 Challenge and this involved both of them presenting to a panel of six judges at the end of our half-term break. You will have seen their achievements being visually celebrated on the Secondary School’s Wall of Fame in the main hall foyer. In 2018 we participated in the MUN hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Barbados for the first time. Every year more than 400,000 students from schools around the globe beyond take part in Model United Nations (MUN). The Model UN is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, or other multilateral body, which introduces students to the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making. We also won four of the top eight category prizes: Excellence in Branding - Emilie & Sara (Nature) Innovation in Health & Culinary Arts - Aidan (Bajan Essentials) Excellence in Research & Development - Emilie & Sara (Nature) again!
