1. First Steps

Thank you for our interest in The Codrington School.  We encourage you  to schedule an appointment to visit our campus and experience the welcoming atmosphere of our school community.

During your visit, you will be introduced to our ethos and  exciting approach to learning. You will also have the opportunity to meet the Principal, Mr. Darryl Brown, the relevant Head of School (Head of Primary – Mr. Rob Fuller, Head of Secondary – Ms. Vicky Mayers), view classrooms and see our teachers and students in action!

Upon receiving your Admission Documents, we will invite your applicant to  enjoy a Taster Day.  The Taster Day is a wonderful chance for the student to enjoy a typical day at school. The student is assigned a buddy who helps them to become familiar with their new surroundings.

Classes at The Codrington School comprise of approximately 15 students per class and we offer one class per grade level.  Our small class sizes provides the opportunity students to receive individual student attention and ensures that standards of excellence are maintained.

Student enrollment is available throughout the academic year.

To schedule a school tour, please contact the Director of Admissions, either by emailing or calling the school at +1 246 423 0095.

2. The Application Process

Please provide the Director of Admissions with the following documents.  Once all of the documents are received, they are reviewed by our Admissions Team and a Tentative Offer of Acceptance is normally issued.  Part of the Admission Process includes a Screening Assessment which is scheduled after receipt of the documents detailed below.  After the Screening is completed, the Admissions Team further review the applicant’s file and decide if a Firm Offer of Acceptance is applicable.  This process normally takes a maximum of 2 weeks. Once you have received a Firm Offer you have two weeks to confirm your acceptance.

  • Please complete the  application form and email it back to the Director of Admissions along with a copy of the applicant’s birth certificate or passport.

  • Application Fee.  At the time of applying the Application Fee of US $400 is due and can be paid by credit card or wire transfer. Please find the Credit Card Authorization Form and the Payment Information Document Here. This is a non refundable fee and ensures the processing of the application for a new student or a student returning after an absence from The Codrington School of one year or longer.

  • Final Report Cards for the Last Three Years – Please email the Director of Admissions copies of the applicant’s final report cards for the last three years where applicable and any reports received during the academic year that the student is in.

  • Asessments – Any formal assessments, such as standardized testing results and the findings of any psycho-educational assessments that may have been undertaken by the prospective students within the last two years are also required. The school operates on the basis of transparency and it is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to bring to the school’s attention at this stage all pertinent information relating to the child’s prior educational history.

  • Confidential School Recommendation Form – to be completed by the applicant’s current teacher, Counsellor or School Head.  The school recommendation form should be e-mailed directly from the applicant’s current school to the Director of Admissions.
  • Medical Form signed by a Doctor

  • Student Health Form

Students are admitted on a first come, first serve basis and only when their previous records and/or screening indicate a high likelihood that they can successfully complete grade level requirements. Admission decisions are made upon review of transcripts, School Recommendation Form, other records, Screening Assessment Placement Tests and, where possible, an interview.

The school reserves the right, at its sole discretion, either to accept or to reject any application for admission. In those cases where an application is rejected, the school is under no obligation to show cause for the non-acceptance of the child concerned.

Children who are accepted for enrollment are entered into the school immediately if a place is available. An offer of admission must be taken up within fourteen days, along with payment of all the relevant fees.

If a place if not immediately available, the incoming student’s name is placed on the waiting list for the year level. The school will then offer places to children on the waiting list as they become available.

Our Office Manager, Sabrina Edwards is responsible for arranging all Enrichment Activities and Transportation. Please place any requests via email  to Ms. Sabrina sabrina.edwards@codrington.edu.bb.

Families should liaise with our Director of Admissions & Communication to organize the purchase of uniform items.

The Café is independently owned and managed.  Should you wish to arrange a meal plan for your child/children, please contact Sandra Toppin directly. thecodringtoncafe@codrington.edu.bb

Please check to see whether your child/children will require a Student Visa in order to attend school in Barbados.  Should a Student Visa be necessary, please liaise with the Director of Admissions & Communication. You may also refer to the  student visa guide for families document.
